Billinghurst Platform Extension

As part of Network Rail’s MAFA Enhancement portfolio, Barhale Rail were awarded a contract by Network Rail to extend platforms 1 & 2 at Billingshurst Station. This was awarded as part of a competitive bid process via the MAFA framework. The work was undertaken to increase passenger volume in connection with the proposed new class 377 rolling stock coming into use and to accommodate 8 car trains. As part of the main platform extension works there were significant Signalling & Telecoms assets that required upgrading and modifying, including new signalling design, installation and test & commissioning requirements.

Procurement of all signalling materials
Production of all Task Briefing & Work Package Plans
Track Circuit Alterations including new tune zones for TI21 track circuits
Wire alterations in REB, signal box and existing locations
New cables run to location case, banner signal and track circuits
Existing banner signal replaced on new cantilever post
Construction of new location base & location case
Recovery of wire operated semaphore signal
Pre-testing and Commissioning of all signalling assets
Installation of signalling signage
